A birdwatchers paradise, Sherwoods Cottage is
a gateway to over 85 different species of birds in the immediate area.
In the secluded valleys, cut by trickling water, and protected by flowering
vines and trees, one can see many different "birds in their natural
habitat" -including many kinds of parrot such as the red winged parrot,
king parrot and the rare turquoise parrot. One can also see wrens and
finches in the covered areas on the wooded slopes. Towards more open areas
are many different hawks and kites. On the creek there is an abundance
of birdlife including water hens, grebes, spoon bills and ibis. Night
brings an entirely different kind of birdsong, the tawny frogmouth being
a regular visitor!
Tours and food hampers are available for bird-watchers and walkers.
