The Cottage

Built in 1956 to replace the original workman’s hut, Sherwoods Cottage is built of weatherboards with a generous verandah and a high pitched roof. The first family in the cottage were the Sherwoods, and the cottage is known throughout the family as Sherwood’s Cottage, so we really couldn’t call it anything else!

The cottage is comfortably furnished in a country style with a homely feel. An open fire in the lounge room provides a lovely warmth on chilly nights, while both bedrooms have ceiling fans for the warm weather. All beds (except the third child’s) have electric blankets and there is a gas heater in the fully equipped kitchen.

Fresh flower arrangements are a feature of Sherwoods Cottage which help make guests feel welcome.

Sherwoods is fully self-contained (including linen which is included in the tariff), with an electric stove and a full sized refrigerator.

The main bedroom has a queen sized bed and is furnished with a charming antique wardrobe and dresser. The second bedroom has two single beds. Another bed can be brought into the room for a third child.

Cross ventilation in the cottage is excellent, so there is generally a breeze coming from somewhere!

Like all traditional country cottages, Sherwoods has an outside (flushing) toilet. It is a short walk from the house and is literally “a room with a view”!

Pets are welcome at Sherwoods Cottage, the yard being enclosed, making it safe for guests travelling with pets. There is also safe accommodation for horses in the stock yards, if guests wish to ride around The Oaks or just spell your travelling horse.
