Built in 1956 to replace the original workman’s cottage, Sherwoods Cottage is built of weatherboard with a generous verandah and a high pitched roof. The first family in the cottage were the Sherwoods, and the cottage is known throughout the family as Sherwood’s Cottage, so we really couldn’t call it anything else!
The main bedroom has a queen sized bed over which is a ceiling fan. The room also has a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
The second bedroom has two single beds, above which is a ceiling fan. A third bed can be brought into the room for a third child.
There are electric blankets on all the beds except the third child’s.
All linen is included in the tariff.
Cross ventilation in the cottage is excellent, so there is generally a breeze coming from somewhere!
The cottage is equipped with an open fire in the lounge room, as well as a gas heater in the kitchen. There is also a column heater for the bedroom, if you really feel the cold!
Like all traditional country cottages, Sherwoods has an outside (flushing) toilet. It is a short walk from the house and is literally “a room with a view”!
